"Kirring me sofrrrrrry...."

Monday, I met up with Tim in Nishinomiya-kitaguchi, and we went into Osaka to go shopping for cameras/video games in 本橋 (Nipponbashi, also called Den Den Town でんでんタウン.)

He wanted to buy a DSLR, and I am fairly knowledgeable. I want to play Guitar Hero, and he has an Xbox and PS3. Plus, we get along pretty well. We walked all around Den Den Town, and it's got a million second-hand electronics stores. It was really fun to check out what's for sale and compare prices and such. We decided on a Nikon for Tim, but we're gonna wait a few weeks to go back and get it (payday). We couldn't find Guitar Hero though...

As a side note, I always had the notion that Japan was a country pretty heavy into porn. I hadn't really seen too much though. However, Den Den Town is laid out like this: Second-hand electronics store, Used CD store, porn store, Video game store, porn store, second-hand electronics store, porn store.... You get the idea. And yes, I went in one of the porn stores, and it was pretty much every adjective you can think of (mostly amazing/disgusting/baffling). Not for the faint of heart.

After we had spent 6 hours comparing cameras, and I had decided if I stopped drinking for three months I could afford a full-frame Canon 5D, we decided to have a beer and sing karaoke for an hour. Amazingly, Tim and I are pretty damn good. Until I started singing The Fugees "Killing Me Softly", with Tim on backup. He started singing in a Japanese accent, and it became "Kirring me sofryyyyy.... with his soooooongu!". Hilarious though.
